Rukhma Javaid is currently enrolled as a PhD student in Bioengineering at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), KSA. She completed her master's in biomedical engineering from Texas A&M University, TX, US, and her bachelor's in biotechnology from University of Gujrat.

Research interests

Her research interests encompass additive manufacturing, tissue engineering, and regenerative medicine. Her expertise includes polymer synthesis, hydrogel ink development, 3D printing, materials characterisation and testing techniques, in-vitro cell functionality assessment, and imaging techniques with good laboratory practices.

Recognition

Rukhma was selected for the Fulbright Foreign Student Program (2021–2023) for her master's in biomedical engineering. During her master's she was awarded the Graduate Student Scholarship twice, and was recognised at the Biomedical Engineering Awards Banquet at Texas A&M University. She is also a member of Alpha Eta Mu Beta (AEMB), the National Biomedical Engineering Honor Society, which promotes the professional development and welfare of its members.

At WEmpower Pakistan, Rukhma works to ensure smooth operations and efficient coordination across departments. She focuses on optimising resource allocation and implementing the organisational policies and procedures that keep the initiative running week to week.

Outside work

Outside her working hours, she loves to travel, paint, socialise, and volunteer.
