WEmpower Pakistan started with a simple idea: young Pakistani women in STEM needed a space to learn, connect, and grow together. What began as a small group of researchers hosting talks and workshops has grown into a nationwide community built on mentorship, opportunity, and support.
We held our first seminar in March 2020 at NUST's Atta-ur-Rahman School of Applied Biosciences in Islamabad, where we introduced our mission to a room full of curious researchers. Not long after, the world changed. As the pandemic pushed everything online, our team adapted quickly, launching lecture series on Facebook Live to help young women navigate scholarships, research writing, and career development from home.
That same year, we also stepped into philanthropy, partnering with the SilverLiners Club on a Ramadan relief campaign that supported families across Rawalpindi. It was a reminder that empowerment isn't just about careers. It's about community too.
Since then, WEmpower Pakistan has kept building. We've grown our mentor network to include professionals across multiple countries, launched training programs, and partnered with universities and organizations who share our belief that Pakistani women belong in every corner of STEM.
Today, under a refreshed leadership structure, we're carrying that same founding spirit forward with renewed energy and a clearer vision for the future. Our team continues to grow, our programs continue to expand, and our commitment to Pakistani women in science and technology hasn't changed one bit.
Be empowered. Empower others. That's still the whole idea.
